The second action took place 2 weeks later. 400 workers were sent from Nowy Sącz and grouped immediately. 46 were spared, the rest executed. 300 victims altogether. The victims were sitting around the grave, Stabsscharführer (officer) Bonnert was walking behind them and shooting them in their backs. The bodies were falling to the grave or Bonnert himself was pushing them into the pit with a kick. One time, when the grave was almost completely covered, wheezing and rattling sounds were coming from inside. One of the Ukrainian guards leaned forward and shot at random. The sounds did not stop, so he shot again, but the wheezing could still be heard. It stopped only when he shot for the third time. |
