[September 1942] From the market in Kamianka people were rushed to the bridge over the Bug River. Behind that bridge there were two bunkers dating back to the Soviet times, in fact, they were open pits, surrounded by ground, with an entrance. Gunshots and shouts of "Shema Yisrael" were coming from there. [...] They were herded to a square near the bunkers. Then, they were ordered to crouch in rows, with their arms folded like at school. They found there some Jews from Kamianka-Buzka and Busko. People were saying that 1400 Jews from Busko and 1100 from Kamianka died in those bunkers that day. Radziechów came last. An order came to give up gold and money (they collected a whole bag) and strip naked. [...] He heard gunshots and screams. People were falling on him, 3 bodies were lying on him. He was not moving. [...] it was ordered to bring 30 boys to cover the pits (bunkers), SS climbed out of the pit, the boys came and started covering it using shovels. |
