Each executions was preceded by a well-known staging of digging up corpses in the Katyn Forest near Smolensk. (...) We are currently learning about the traces of murders of Polish officers in Katyn and in the woods of Lesienice near Lviv. Executing peaceful residents of Lviv on the "Sands" behind Łyczaków, Germans were putting their victims in the pits forming piles, just like the Polish officers in the woods of Kozia Góra (Kozia Hill). (...) Once the pits, located near Lesienice, and corpses in them were filled with sand and clay, Germans ordered people from the "death brigade" to plant a forest on the surface of the graves. |
