On Sunday, 3 August 1942, a first destructive action took place. "The Death Brigade" surrounded the city; a shooting lasted between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. People were dragged out from apartments, basements and shelters. [...] People chosen on Sunday were immediately killed at the Jewish cemetery. [...] Women, children and the elderly were taken and executed at the Jewish cemetery 200 m from the prison. [...] A large hole was dug at the cemetery, and a board placed above it. Naked Jews had to walk across it; they were shot and fell directly to the ditch. |
