The action in Korzec took place in the first days of September 1941. All the Jews were herded to the market. The old, sick, weak and mothers with children were separated from the young, strong and able to work. People unable to walk were transported to the place of execution - 8 km from Korzec, to a forest near the Kozaki village. The rest, in groups of four, was herded there on foot. The pits had already been prepared for a few days, dug by the prisoners of war. The pits were symmetrical, dug evenly, like trenches, with steps for throwing people in. The Jews were executed in groups of 10. Women and children separately, then men. 3,500 Jews altogether. |
