On 8 April 1943 a liquidation action took place. About 1,800 people were gathered in the Jewish camp, they had to take off their outwear, they were searched and walked in two groups to Pietrykaŭ, the place of execution. Pietrykaŭ- a village located 3 km away from Ternopil [...] Similar actions to the one on Friday, 8 April 1943, took place on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday. All the people gathered in transportation, in the number of 700 - 1,000 were killed in Pietrykaŭ 500 people remained in the ghetto. They were also executed in Pietrykaŭ at the end of May 1943. After the arrival of Red Army in 1944, Jews who survived and Jewish repatriates from USSR fenced the place of mass murder in Pietrykaŭ and set up a monument. |
