An enormous mass grave is located in the woods of Chodów, on the way from Miechów to Charsznica. On 18 November 1942, after displacement actions, about 400 people (406-412) from the ghetto in Miechów were taken to that forest. Apart from that, some people were brought to the above-mentioned place of execution from the neighbourhood. According to the stories of local residents, the number of victim was about 600, so altogether it would be over 1,000 people. There were men, women and a great number of small children. [...] The executions were carried out in the afternoon (between 1 and 3 o'clock) under the supervision of Deputy mayor of Miechów, Dr. Schmidt (a lawyer). |
