On 1 August 1941 the Germans came and already on 3 August ordered the technical intelligentsia to report to Gestapo according to their occupation. Altogether there were 400 people, only a handful of them came back. After 3 days the rest was transported to the woods in Uhryniv, around 5-6 km away from Ivano-Frankivsk. An about week later, on 3 August 1941, they called in Polish intelligentsia, mostly teachers, whereas the most prominent doctors and other professionals were called in individually and transported to those woods as well. All of them were executed there. |
