In March 1942 Germans announced that they needed a contingent of people. It was Judenrat's job to deliver them. The victims were the poorest people who were using the kitchen: those living in the orphanage, Red Army soldiers' wives and children, refugees, the poor from the outskirts, in general, all the "cheap men"."
