At the same time, the Jews who had previously been put aside (because the SS soldiers did not like them or they were old or sick) were told to get in the trucks. They were being herded very quickly, beaten and shot at. Then the trucks drove off, and some people were saying that they went to the cemetery in Wieliczka, others that their destination was the forest in Niepołomice, where they were all supposedly executed. Personally, I think that the Jews were executed in the cemetery in Wieliczka, because machine guns were heard in the vicinity of the cemetery and because when we were in Wieliczka for a few days after the resettlement, some of us were taken to bury the killed people. |
